Jamey Kollar, Marching Percussion Coordinator

Mr. Jamey Kollar is a percussionist currently residing in Houston, Texas.  Mr. Kollar is a recent graduate of the Moores School of Music at the University of Houston, earning his Master of Music in Percussion Performance in 2012.  He completed his undergraduate work at the Moores School in 2010 with a Bachelor of Music degree in Percussion Performance.

Mr. Kollar currently serves as the Assistant Director of the "Spirit of Houston" Marching Band, as well as oversees, coordinates and arranges for the "Spirit of Houston" Drumline.  He also is the percussion private lesson instructor and technician for the Pearland High School cluster of the Pearland Independent School District, as well as a percussion technician for the Pasadena Memorial High School Indoor Drumline.  In addition, Mr. Kollar maintains a very active performance, instruction, clinician and adjudication schedule around the city of Houston, as well as the state of Texas.

Over the course of his collegiate and post-collegiate career, Jamey has been extremely fortunate to have had the opportunity to study with many incredible teachers and mentors, including Dr. Blake Wilkins, Alec Warren, Joel Fulgham, as well as the members of So Percussion.  He has performed at the 2010 and 2012 Percussive Arts Society International Conventions (PASIC), as well as the 2011 Texas Music Educators Association convention, and has participated in masterclasses and coachings with such influential performers and composers as Steve Reich, She-e Wu, Paul Lansky and the Meehan-Perkins Duo.

Jamey was selected from a pool of applicants to attend the 2012 and 2013 So Percussion Summer Institute (SoSI), a two-week intensive percussion chamber music festival held on the campus of Princeton University.

Mr. Kollar's professional affiliations include membership in the Texas Music Educators Association, the Percussive Arts Society, as well as Pi Kappa Lambda.
